A temporary theatre is required from 1.4.2016 for a period not exceeding 21 months, to accommodate various surgical specialities with Orthopaedics being dominant. The theatre will be providing NHS Highland with theatre coverage over a short-term period while some of it's own theatre capacity is undergoing refurbishment. The unit provided will be fully equipped in a way that requires no further equipment to be purchased and will fit a footprint on the site which is configured to allow the placement of a temporary facility of this nature. The Contractor will be making the unit available to be used on a 24 hour 7 day a week basis for the duration of the contract and will comply with all current statutory UK regulations.
The Contractor will provide appropriately qualified and experienced supporting staff as required. The Contractor shall be responsible for the provision of the security at the end of each working day and will make regular daily checks of the unit. The Contractor is also expected to prep and clean the mobile theatre outside of the normal sessional working hours. The Contractor will be responsible for the provision of medical gasses. The theatre must be able to connect to NHS Highland's supply of power, water, drainage and IT networks. A generator for the electricity supply will be provided.
The Contractor will carry full insurance cover including professional indemnity of 5 000 000 GBP on each and every case, employee and public / third party liability on the unit itself. The Contractor is expected to comply with all appropriate hospital policies, protocols and procedures including those that are applicable to infection control and prevention. The available location for placement of the theatre is restricted due to the requirement to link to the existing hospital without impeding fire service access. Therefore the maximum size that the location would accommodate is 16 m x 10 m.
