The concession relates to the operation of the AMRI facility to be constructed at Broughton on land currently belonging to airbus over which a long lease will be granted to Welsh Ministers. Research at the facility will focus on a range of sectors including nuclear and aerospace. The operator will manage the business of the facility including carrying out joint research with, and encouraging collaboration between, anchor and regionally important companies, SMEs and FE/HE partners to develop new manufacturing innovation, systems, processes and capability to enhance the quality and productivity of businesses in the region and across Wales. One key project involves Airbus who are committed to being the anchor tenant to develop future wing technology at the facility. The concessionaire will not charge for operating the facility and will run the facility on a not-for-profit basis.
