A consortium of Coventry City Council, Coventry and Warwickshire local enterprise partnership, and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), at the University of Warwick, has been awarded £80 million, through a competition led by the advanced propulsion centre and supported by innovate UK, to establish a new National facility. The facility will be known as UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC). UKBIC is a completely new organisation, there is no existing infrastructure or software system(s) in place. It has been identified to enable UKBIC to function and deliver its intended activities, UKBIC will require a software
solution(s) providing:
1. The functionality normally identified / related to that supplied by an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
2. The functionality normally identified / related to that supplied by a Management Execution System (MES) / Factory Information System (FIS).
The requirement is for a fit for purpose solution(s) in line that will cover the functionality required as per our outline specification. As UKBIC will be a new organisation, the expectation is that its operations / requirements may change over the term of contract and so the Authority is keen to establish a contract(s) for a solution(s) that are flexible, future proofed and facilitates change in the future as UKBIC evolves.
The Authority expects as part of the implementation that further identification work will be required with the awarded Tenderer(s) as UKBIC grows and operational staff are employed by UKBIC. The identification work will involve working with operational staff at UKBIC to ensure the solution(s) incorporate day to day operations / processes as identified / finalised. The expectation is that the implementation will be a step by step process focusing on business areas / system modules and signing these off with approval before the entire solution(s)
goes live.
Further details on the functionality identified that we will require from a software solution(s) and UKBIC's operations can be found in the outline specification.
