Leeds City Council is going to market for a provider to design and implement a full fibre gigabit capable network (FTTP) to the Council and partner buildings across the Leeds metropolitan district.The fibre infrastructure will give access to circa 1500 sites with a managed service overlay.The infrastructure will be assured to CESG Assurance Scheme (Telecoms) and provide WAN (Wide Area Network) connectivity to replace the Council’s existing network.It is envisaged that the contracting model will be based on 2 components, an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) for the use of the network fibre elements for 25 years and a traditional services contract for the hardware and managed service overlay with an initial term of 7 years and option to extend by 3 years.The Council is holding a supplier open day in July.
