The project, funded by Innovate UK, brings together significant local, academic and industry experience and expertise, to undertake one of the most wide-ranging and holistic 'smart grid trials' ever conducted in the UK. LEO will improve our understanding of how opportunities can be maximised and unlocked through the development and testing of a local energy flexibility market. As a local authority, we have a long-term ambition to integrate data and insights with a view to strategic planning. Hence, we are looking to explore partnership opportunities, collaborations and business models that will allow us to develop and maintain datasets and provide a tool for the long term. The LEO energy planning tool will be made available to LEO partners and other key users across Oxfordshire, for example: • Local authority planning teams • Community energy project developers • Community groups eg for neighbourhood planning • Distribution Network / System operators e.g. SSEN • Flexible demand aggregators and service providers • Researchers e.g. University of Oxford OCC are inviting suppliers to take part in a market consultation event.
